On a stormy day this holiday season we all gathered to honor my darling cousin Jillian before her wedding.   It was a little short notice ( a week! ) because her wedding got moved up due to her fiances schedule.  Her fiance is in the air force so not only was she getting married, but she is moving out of state to be on base with him.  So we wanted it to be extra special!

Throwing a shower should be specific to the brides taste.  Not every bride wants to play games, or do somewhat traditional things.  The only somewhat traditional thing we did was we had her fiance write her a letter and we had her read it before she opened presents.  It was the sweetest thing and made the whole shower seem romantic!

Our family and a few of Jillian’s very close friends all got together and shared chicken pot pies champagne cocktails and lots of sweets.

Here are some pictures from the event!

Even though it was during the day it was extremely stormy so we put lots of candles out.  The flowers were proteas in mason jar, simple but eye catching.   I got Martha Stewart silver and gold wedding bell confetti, it was fun and made me laugh because days later I kept finding it all around my house. Those our cassis french maroons!  They were too good.

It was serve yourself so we had a table with plates, napkins utensils and glasses, there was also a lot of sweet treats on that table too!

As much as I would have LOVED to have everyone sit at one table it just wasn’t going to happen, so we just placed chairs around and it worked out well.  It was nice to have the lighting from the tree and it doubled as a place to put all her presents.

We did little favors that were really fun and sweet.  There two belgian chocolates one white sea shell and one milk chocolate heart.  You can buy the molds at Michaels.  I used callebeaut chocolate.  The chocolates were sitting on gum drop sand… :0)   They are the gum drops from Trader Joes and no I do not like them, I LOVE them!  They are magical!  When is the last time you had real darling little gum drops?  The best part is they have no high fructose corn syrup!  They looked amazing in there little Martha Stewart bags.

I might have been a little too obsessed with these…. :o)

If you are throwing a shower for anyone good luck!  I recommend having gum drops anywhere at any time really.
