I love shrimp cocktail! I made it at an heirloom party the other week and people went a little nuts for it!  It is so classic and simple.  Barefoot Contessa has a really good recipe where she grills her shrimp, this is awesome, but feel free to use  already cooked shrimp from a reliable source.  You probably want to use a shrimp that is 26/30 shrimp which means there is about 26-30 a pound.  Whether you grill it or use the ones already cooked, this cocktail sauce will be great.  A good reason to make your own cocktail sauce is because some of the store bought ones are down right gross and filled with narly ingredients! 🙂  Feel free to adjust all the ratios in this recipe.

 

Cocktail Sauce:

2 cups good quality organic ketchup ( I like Trader Joes)

1/4 cup balsamic vinaigrette (lots of recipe call for worcestershire sauce, but sadly this has high fructose corn syrup so I do not use it, but feel free to use it if you like)

juice of one lemon

2-4 tablespoons chile oil (use your own spicy discretion)

2-4 tablespoons grated horseradish (use your own spicy discretion once again)

salt and pepper to taste

chopped parsley if desired
